In math class when we take tests we also prove our understanding we go through a portfolio where we answer questions that justify our thinking. We did one after each unit to show how much we have learned and it helped us justify our thinking.
For the Shark Tank Project we had to make our own mini business. We started off by giving presentations of what we think we should sell, from those presentations we chose the top 3 companies and got into groups of around 10 students and sold our product.
Reflection:
This year in math we did so many things inside the classroom but our big project was The Shark Tank Project. I really enjoyed getting to be a part of this mini business. My company sold cookies and brownies. We had three different types of cookies which were chocolate blossoms, peanut butter blossoms, and snicker-doodles. For brownies we had chocolate fudge brownies. Our group ended up selling enough money for each student in our group to get $20 each, keep in mind there is about 10 students in our company. I was very proud of my group for being good sales-men, bakers, and advertisers. One struggle we faced was not being able to get everyone together to cook, we realized we didn't need everyone there because it would be too crowded so it ended up working out.
