With our finished house designs we needed the materials to begin building the houses. We created a Kickstarter campaign to get the funds we needed. To reach our goal of $18,000 in 30 days, which meant we had to be getting a little over $500 each day. In the beginning everyone was pitching in to spread awareness on social media and to their families. Our goal of $500 a day was being met for the first week of fundraising, so it looked like we were set. By the halfway point, we hadn't reached over $5,000. We were in desperate need of funds, so for a day, we contacted every major and local business we could find and asked for donations. Eventually, we got someone from Qualcomm that was interested in donating $10,000 to fund the project and wanted to come hear a presentation about what it was all about and if they wanted to commit to donating $10,000 to a class of freshmen. When we were almost at the end of the time left to raise the $18,000 Ms. Regina chose 6 kids, including me, to be able to convince Qualcomm that it what we were doing was worth the money. After that meeting we successfully got the $10,000 donation we were still short by $3,000. We all sort of lost hope of raising the $3,000 in one day. At the last minute, the Children's Museum donated the money we needed and made our goal of $18,000the end of the fundraising, a group of students in the class presented and we got the $10,000. I learned to spread awareness in order to raise money and to not be afraid to ask people for donations. Also, to let people know that they don't have to donate large amounts, any amount will do because the more backers we have on Kickstarter, the more publicity we have on the project.
