This week went by really fast but a lot was learned. We deepened our learning in neuroplasticity by conducting visual note taking and making connections with past articles, class discussions, and videos. The videos we watched were both around how our brain can grow, be molded, and rewire itself. Being able to get this information and turn it into simple words, images, or symbols has allowed me to gain a better understanding of the topic. This skill has already helped me in another class. In humanities, we have been reading a book in which I rewrite or draw things that are playing out, this allows me to create a better connection and have a deeper understanding of the things that are happening. After each video we watched, we conducted a class discussion which really allows me to go even deeper into the subject. Hearing other people’s ideas, questions, and comments provokes me to think of new things to think about or to ask.
Having these visual notes to look back at has allowed me to be able to look back at previous discussions and connect them to the current one. I use much of this information to remind others of what we previously spoke about and to think about how it all works together. All the videos we’ve taken notes on the past few weeks relate to each other. Weather I have notes about the teen brain, pruning, or rewiring I am able to look back and see which comes first and what happens after.
