These are images of how my group chose to insert our essays.
We didn't want our long essay to distract from our pictures so we decided to make an insert to make it less cramped and also to add a pop of color. |

Reflection
Being a part of this project has allowed me to open my eyes to a new wave of voices in the teen community. As this project has been going on, our school has been a part of 3 separate walk outs focusing on women’s rights and gun violence. This has given me a chance to see other teens be a part of a bigger movement. Being a part of both, the zine and walk-out, movements it has allowed me to see that voices are more powerful put together. My persuasive essay for the zine project revolved around 3 main ideas: the commonality of rape, victim blaming, and the lack of laws protecting victims.
The overarching topic my group chose to follow was feminism. This topic included topics like body image, body shaming, masculinity in women, and sexual abuse. The reason these specific topics were chosen related back to personal experience and curiosity. One main thing we wanted to keep consistent throughout our zine was the power of “no”. We related this word in many different ways like saying “no” to stereotypical rules for women and understanding the power of “no means no”. I felt that we were able to get this message across through the images we took and quotes we chose to include within our zine.
I believe that literature research and the social advocacy interview allowed me to gain an understanding of different perspective in regards to this issue.
The thing I am most proud about from this project was completing a zine in which every page, insert, and pocket was made with effort and energy. My group worked so hard in every single aspect of the zine and it was relieving to see that it all worked well together. For future reference, I will make sure that everyone in my group puts in 100% of their effort in order to have a super positive outcome.
