Our main goal this semester was to learn to look at things from a food lense. We looked at things such as health, social status, culture and politics. To follow this goal we decided to create a pop-up restaurant run completely by students. We divided into committees such as graphic design, cooking and business. Later on, the graphic design group got turned into servers or presenters.
Successes & challenges:
One of the biggest successes this project as a whole was being able to complete deadlines for our exhibition. Everything that needed to be completed was done on time. Although, a lot of things were dine fine there were some challenges. One of the biggest challenges was my main committee getting dissolved only 2 weeks before exhbition and having to start from zero.
I was part of the graphic design committee which later on got dissolved and I moved to the presentors committee. When the project began we had planned to have a soft opening and the graphic design group was needed to be in charge of the decor in the classroom. We made a website, wall decoration and table center pieces. We also came up with the name and menu design. When we found out the venue that the actual restaurant we realize we wouldnt need to do any further decorating. From there, I was moved to the presentors committee. In this group, we were in charge of being educated on a certain topic we learned during this process. I chose veganism because it seemed the most interesting to me.
