In order to come up with a story that was emotionally honest, we first had to brainstorm different ideas. We received a packet where we had to come up with 3 different stories that impacted our lives. We spoke about these three stories to our teachers and they were able to tell which we were the most passionate about and pushed us to speak about the story which we held the most emotional attachment to. When we had out story picked out, we began our first draft. For the first draft we were directed to complete a 7 page story. We had to include "showing" not "telling", our biological connection, and emotional vulnerability. We got our first draft critiqued and then moved on to our second draft. A lot of our first drafts were too long, needed more description, and needed to be grammatically revised. For my second draft, I cut down certain sentences and paragraphs, I added more descriptive language, and I corrected misspellings and grammatical errors. From this moment on, I received more critique and just needed to keep cutting down my story in order to make it a good length. It was cool seeing how my story developed as well as my writing.
